Davide Tranchina (Bologna, 1972)

teaches Photography at the Brera Academy, Milan, and at the Bologna Academy. Since 1999, he exhibits in contemporary art galleries and public venues in Italy and abroad – both personals and group exhibitions. In 2003 he showed works at the Spazio Aperto of Galleria d’Arte Moderna of Bologna. In 2009 he was invited to the Prague Biennale4. His project 40 notti a Montecristo, was showed for the first time in 2014 during the exhibition Perduti nel paesaggio, MART, Rovereto. In 2016, following his personal show Lontano, FAR, Rimini, he was invited to put on a special project Nuove esplorazioni held at the Chiostri of San Pietro as part of Fotografia Europea at Reggio Emilia. Shots by Tranchina have appeared in publications on Italian and international photography as Future Images, curated by M. Cresci, 24ORE Cultura, Laboratorio Italia; La fotografia nell’arte contemporanea curated by M. Paderni, Johan & Levi Editore, and Tre strade per la fotografia by L. Panaro, APM Edizioni. He was one of the winners at the 2010 edition of Premio Terna 03 per l’arte contemporanea and outright winner of the fourth edition of the Premio Francesco Fabbri per le Arti contemporanee 2015, in the contemporary photography section. Several of his works are now part of permanent collections as Galleria Civica di Modena; MART, Rovereto; UniCredit and UBI – the Banca Popolare of Bergamo. Currently, he lives and works between Bologna and Milan.
